Marcel Cromer

Marcel was born in January 1919 in Pittsburgh, PA.

In January 1920, Marcel was living with his parents at 33 Frances Street, Brentwood Borough, (Pittsburgh) Allegheny County, PA 15227.

By 1925, Eugene and his family were living at 335 Meredith Street, Carrick, Pittsburgh, PA, about 2 miles away from Frances Street. Early in that year, Marcel traveled to France with his mother and two siblings, returning August 8th on the SS Suffren (French Line). At that time it took about 8-10 days to travel by boat between New York and Le Havre.

By 1930, Eugene and his family had moved to 103 Overbrook Blvd, Pittsburgh, PA, about a mile from Meredith Street. They owned the house and it was valued at $7,000.

On October 26, 1941, Marcel enlisted in the Army at Ft. Meade, Maryland. This was about six weeks before the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, so he would have still been in training during the aftermath and ramp-up of the military.
